"Death"
During 2019, we have encountered numerous deaths. When confronted with the death of a loved one or a friend's loved one, you have no choice but to reflect on your handling and processing of death.
In March, our cousin unexpectedly lost her 33-year old daughter. This beautiful young woman left behind a husband and three precious young girls. We lost a couple of strong women of God in our church. A dear friend lost a son at age 42. Another parent lost their daughter around the same age. Both of us lost our dads, one in October and one in November, twenty-nine days apart.
So why are we sharing this with you? Whether a death is experienced at a younger or older age, one thing is for sure, having the ASSURANCE for that loved one is PRICELESS! Whether you are expecting or not expecting the knock of death, it will be experienced one day. The most beautiful part of EVERY death we faced this year is that we know each person is now WHOLE and COMPLETE and present with the Lord!
As a Believer in Jesus Christ, we do not need to fear death. Of course, our hearts will ache and adjust to not having that individual here on this earth. However, losing a loved one and having that ASSURANCE of where they are and WHO they are with will bring a peace that floods our hearts in a way that is indescribable.
Although there will be many this year, including us, who will be celebrating Jesus's birth without some dear loved ones at their celebrations, we can take comfort in 2 Corinthians 5:8, "...To be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord." Thank you Jesus for taking the STING out of death. Yes, we will walk through the grief and loss, but we are thankful we have an ASSURANCE and no reason to fear death.
